Str Lipscani, the main street of the historical center of Bucharest.

Our experience is

that most of the travelers come to Romania to see:

you will find plenty of information on these places, in touristic guides or on the internet.

But the other side of the coin is here:

Pic 2 The Sphynx and the "Babe" ( "The Old Grandmas") . Natural rock formations of curious shapes, on top of the Bucegi mountains. It is said the sphynx is an azoteric place, a spring of life energy. You can climb in ~4 hours or take the cable-car and sleep close to them in a cabin on top of the mountain.
Pic 2 Piatra Craiului. Considered by many mountain-loving people as the most beautiful in Romania. If you go there, you will need at least 3 days to hike that mountain. You will sleep in cabins or in refuges, you will make fires and watch out for bears.
Pic 2 The Danube Delta. One of the World Heritage sites. You can't find anything else in Europe like it. Take the boat from Tulcea to the seaside, and see more animals, fishes and birds than anywhere ( an official report counts approx. 1200 species of trees and plants, 300 species of birds, 100 species of fishes )
Pic 2 The head of Decebal. On the Danube river close to Orsova, a 40 meters high and 25 meters wide head of our last Dacian ruler, Decebal. As worth seeing as the statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, or Mount Rushmore.
Pic 2 The Mogosoaia Palace in Bucharest. Built at the beginning of the 1700s by a Romanian ruler.
Pic 2 Curtea de Arges. One of the most beautiful monasteries in Romania. Legend has it that its architect burried his own life so that the monastery doesnt keep falling apart every night. At the side of the building , there is a candle, to mark the place where Ana, the creator's wife , was burried alive. ( The Legend of Manole)
Pic 2 Caves ( Pesteri ). There are many caves in all the mountains around here , the most well-known being the Bears Cave, the Women's Cave, the Live Fire Cave.
Pic 2 Sarmizegetusa. The last capital of the Dacians, our ancestors, 2000 years ago. Comparable to Stonehenge; more interesting, less well-known though. Go there only if you know and you like history and anthropology.
Pic 2 The mud volcanoes.
