If you want to know how you can travel from Bucharest to Chisinau, Moldova, here are the options.

By train: there is one train a day, that leaves at 19:40 and gets there at 9:30 ( it takes 14 hours). The price for the sleeper is 141 lei for a bed in the 4 bed dorm and 230 lei for a bed in a 2 bed dorm.

By bus: the buses leave either in the morning or in the evening. At “Autogara Filaret” there are buses that leave at: 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 13:00, 17:00, 20:00, 22:00. The price is 70-75 lei, depending on the company. You can find contact data for Autogara Filaret on our Travel Links page.

There is another company that leaves from behind the train station ( The Gara de Nord train station), “Torpedo Tour ” ( contact data on our Travel Links ) and they leave at 20:00 everyday. The price is 75 lei/one way.

The trip by bus usually takes 8-9 hours.

N.B. You have to keep in mind that the return trip is much cheaper if you buy it from Chisinau, and not from Bucharest.

The bus tickets you have to buy them from the bus driver directly. So you have to be there, at the bus stop, 1 hour before the departure time and get the ticket from the driver.

There is a customs check at the border, so do not be surprised by it. When you come back from Moldova, remember that you are not allowed to bring over the border a lot of things with you, for example you are only allowed to have 2 packs of cigarettes. If you have with you more that that, it will be confiscated. The same applies for alcoholic drinks. Inform yourselves before you buy gifts or souvenirs of this department.
